Understanding Your Vitals

Understanding Your Vitals

Pulse, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation. Such values might sound technical at first. But they tell a lot about how your body is doing. If you can roughly interpret them, you understand yourself a bit better. Here's a simple overview of the most important ones.

  1. Resting heart rate

Resting heart rate is the number of heartbeats per minute while at rest. A low, stable resting heart rate is generally considered a sign of good recovery. The trend over time is more interesting than a single value.

  1. Heart rate variability (HRV)

HRV describes the small fluctuations between individual heartbeats. It indicates how well your nervous system balances between tension and relaxation. Higher values usually suggest good recovery; again, your personal trend is what matters.

  1. Oxygen saturation (SpO₂)

This value shows how much oxygen your blood is carrying. For most people, it lies within a stable range. Noticeable changes over time can be a reason to take a closer look.

  1. Respiratory rate

How many times you breathe per minute changes with activity, relaxation, and sleep. Calm, steady breathing during rest periods is a good sign.

  1. Trends instead of individual values

A single measurement says little. Only over days and weeks does a meaningful picture emerge. Therefore, pay less attention to individual numbers and more to how your values develop overall.

  1. Know your baseline

What is "normal" differs from person to person. The better you know your own typical values, the easier it is to recognize when something deviates and to react more consciously.

Your Azume One continuously records your most important vital signs and bundles them in the app. This way, you can see at a glance how your values are developing and, over time, better understand what is normal for you.
